The first and most important step to spiritual growth, or “the Kingdom walk” is to be poor in spirit. To be poor in spirit means to be broken and humble. God cannot put together that which is not broken. Therefore, God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Grace is given and received each time we exercise humility. Without complete brokeness and humility God will resist us.
