A Strong-willed Parent and a Simple Act of Lovingkindness.

Hi Mark,
I am a strong-willed parent who is SLOWLY being conformed
to the image of Christ.  It has been a long slow process.  I have
attended several of Mark's seminars and endeavor to walk in what I have
learned, but spend more time apologizing to my son than I care to tell.
This year my 13 year old son, was old enough to attend the home school
conference.  He came with me to my first "Hamby seminar".  As we sat
there and Mark started telling his "Jonathan stories" I began to wince.
KNOWING that my son might start poking me and saying "Did you hear that
mom?".  (Which I would deserve to hear.)  Instead, he grabbed my hand
and put his face in my palm and began kissing me.  He looked at me with
the sweetest gaze and simply said, "I love you, Mom."  Then, as Mark
continued describing our home life, my son would put his head on my
shoulder or kiss my cheek, all the while saying, "I love you, Mom."

No one will ever know what those simple acts of lovingkindness
did to this crusty old heart.  I cried myself to sleep that night with
the sweetness of it all.  I felt the Lord whisper in my ear, "This act
alone will help you to become the mom that you long to be."  I can still
feel his face in my hand.  Don't give up you strong-willed moms.  The
flesh dies slowly, but God's lovingkindness is there to be showered upon
us as we look to Him for our deliverance.

Thanks, Mark, for the opportunity to share.
