Word Is Out

"We who preach and write, do so in a manner different from which the Scriptures have been written. We write while we make progress. We learn something new every day. We speak as we still knock for understanding...If anyone criticizes me when I have said what is right, he does me an injustice. But I would be more angry with the one who praises me and takes what I have written for Gospel truth than I would be with the one who criticizes me unfairly. Augustine

update on dad

For those who are following the news about my dad and praying for him, this has been a most difficult day.  The doctor said that dad would not walk out of this hospital.  A week ago this would have been shocking and quite a hit for me to take, but after being around this new doctor for the week, it did not surprise me to hear him say this.  He is right in his assessment that dad’s current health does not paint a very hopeful picture, and he may be correct in his assertions. But I can understand why he thinks that we he does.  He is governed by his worldview, which is not a Christian world view.  Dad has now been here for twenty-six days.  He has been in critical condition for twenty-one of these days.  He was on life support, then off, and now on again.  His lungs are not strong enough to move the fluid off and his kidneys as of last night were not filtering toxins…tonight, the kidneys have shown some improvement which reignites our hope. These past two days I have prayed like I have never prayed before…I would love for dad to have a miraculous recovery for many wonderful reasons, but one would be to bring glory to God by demonstrating his mercy, grace, and power to an unsaved doctoral staff.  For the first two weeks, we had a Christian doctor who gave us facts, told us of the seriousness of dad’s situation, but gave us hope each day…thus the result of his Christian world view.  Our world view really does influence the way we live our lives.  Because I believe that God is totally sovereign in all of the affairs of man, I can trust my dad’s future in His hands.  This doesn’t mean my heart does not ache, nor does it mean that I am not responsible to pray without ceasing, and this doesn’t mean I will not grieve if the Lord decides to take my dad to his new home…it does mean that I can trust a God of love who works all things together for good to them who love Him, to them who are called according to His purpose.  (Romans 8)

Ps.  Tonight and tomorrow may determine the fate of my dad’s future…please pray for him.  Thank you,

Mark

Ephesians 3:13-21

Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Praying for all...
