Word Is Out

"We who preach and write, do so in a manner different from which the Scriptures have been written. We write while we make progress. We learn something new every day. We speak as we still knock for understanding...If anyone criticizes me when I have said what is right, he does me an injustice. But I would be more angry with the one who praises me and takes what I have written for Gospel truth than I would be with the one who criticizes me unfairly. Augustine

Prudent Wife...more Ponderings in Proverbs

If you are on the north east coast, good morning on this frost covered beautiful day. The colors of the maple and dogwood trees are just...can't even describe it. For those elsewhere, especially for you 70 degree daily, no seasons in southern CA, good morning. Something about the seasons.

In Proverbs 19:14, Solomon writes, "House and riches are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD."

Like most proverbs, this is a contrasting thought. A man works hard to leave an inheritance to his children and his children’s children. This is a gift and a worthy gift given from a man to his children. God gives gifts as well to his children. And one that rivals an inheritance, is a prudent wife.

There are so many thoughts that rush to my mind. One that we need to prepare our daughters to be prudent, so that the Lord has many gifts to give. He does not work outside of our cooperation with him. In the same thought, our boys need to be taught to work hard to leave an inheritance to their children and grandchildren. Proverbs 13:22 says that “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children;”

As I ponder this verse of the prudent wife, another thought comes to mind: a prudent wife supports her husband so that he is able to leave such security to his family and future generations. She is his counter part; she supports his endeavors, encourages him, speaks the truth to him, prays for him, and patiently waits for him to fulfill God’s plan for his life and his family’s. So many men flounder in life; it is a prudent wife who sees her supportive role in encouraging him…it is true that behind every great man is a great or greater woman.

isnt that something...I read Proverbs 19 as well this morning...this is beautiful...touches my heart deeply....may we all move from being willfull to willing...and from self-centered to submissive to a loving all knowing Father...may we learn to live by faith and God promises....

Hebrews 11:23-28
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.
