Word Is Out

"We who preach and write, do so in a manner different from which the Scriptures have been written. We write while we make progress. We learn something new every day. We speak as we still knock for understanding...If anyone criticizes me when I have said what is right, he does me an injustice. But I would be more angry with the one who praises me and takes what I have written for Gospel truth than I would be with the one who criticizes me unfairly. Augustine

From a friend of mine:

27:7 -- Let's cut to the chase on this verse. The sweet things of God's
Word are not desired by those either full of themselves or gorged on the
pleasures of this world. The junk food diet of this world may keep you
full and fat but far from healthy and satisfied. The religious rulers in
the time of Christ were unable to "digest" the words of Jesus because they
were "full" of their own understanding. "Make the heart of this people fat,
and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their
eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and
convert, and be healed." Isa_6:10 "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and
increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou
art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." Rev_3:17
Those who are full of the philosophies of this world don't realize they are
dying of spiritual malnutrition. There are so many forms of media
surrounding us that it is quite easy to forsake the "real food" of the Word
and fill ourselves with the "dead food" of the world.
Does the Word of God excite your soul? Do you crave the "sweet
treasures" found within its pages? When you enter into the Word of God
hungry for spiritual food, you never leave unsatisfied. The manna will fall
if you believe God and venture out to pick it up. Hunger has a way of
affecting our taste buds. Bitter herbs are good for the health and somtimes
God's Word may be bitter to my will but once digested they will heal my
spirit. A fast from the world's pleasures will help create a hunger for the
Word.

Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. –Proverbs 30:7-9
