Abounding in Fruit |
| The Basket of Flowers is written as exquisitely as the gardens and flowers it describes. I read it in one sitting, only leaving it long enough for another tissue. Christoph Von Schmid saturates this little treasure in the biblical truths of the bible. He applies it artfullly so that child and adult will be captured by the fruit it bears. I cant wait to read it again! |

Inspirational |
| This book is one of the best inspirational books Ive ever read. The spiritual lessons learned in it through multiple simple illustrations impact hearts that transcend generations. This book will impact just about anyone who reads it. It just doesnt get much better than this. It is good for men, boys, girls, women, grandparents, those firm in their beliefs, and those struggling in their faith. What a beautiful gift you are giving if even one person should read it from you. I will read it again and again. I will be recommending it to everyone, and it will definitely be on my list of must reads for my children before their education ends. |

A Rare and Beautiful Book |
| This was one of the most incredible books I have ever read. As a young lady, it encourages me to remain faithful and true, no matter what. The beauty of this book is rare. Books arent written like this anymore. It was a true joy to read it and I didnt put it down until I had completed reading it. I am so glad I was encouraged to read A Basket of Flowers. It really is a wonderful book! |

The Basket of Flowers |
| Oh my, oh my, can two books share first place??? Never again will I view a flower without being transported to a place called Eichbourg where this lovely little tapestry unfolds. I marveled as James wove character into his daughters soul with Gods word made manifest in the flowers they loved so much. When Mary is wrongly accused of a crime the darkness of pride, envy, hate, and fear are turned into the light of courage, love, compassion and selflessness. Mary stands firm yet remains delicate as the flowers that were her teachers. Oh how I desired to read this to a child... well I did in away because I heard it with a childs ears. I really enjoyed seeing Marys character proven strong. Character, tested and flexed as she weathered the attacks of the evil one in form of person and situation. Again I was struck by the rich word pictures created and how expertly His word was woven into this story. Stayed up VERY late to complete and will read again and again. Never will you grow tired of this story that delivers in the end the reward of one who is not swayed by the world. She kept her heart on her God as she cried out What can I do but raise my heart to God, O my Lord! |

Love. Grace. Providence and Parenting. |
| This was an amazing book and a great place to start with Lamplighter publishing. Since I finished this book a couple weeks ago, I have recommended it to three people and Im looking forward to purchasing it for a few other friends.
The story is powerful in its simplicity. I felt an immediate connection with the father and with Mary. There is so much injustice in this world, yet how we respond has everything to do with our faith in God and His plans for our lives.
This was an excellent book and I look forward to the future when I can read this to my children.
Thank you, Lamplighter, for offering this wonderful alternative to all the junk that the world wants us to gobble up. |

Basket of Flowers |
| This is one of the most life-changing books Ive ever read. It changed me as a dad. I loved the section where Marys father says, See in this lily my child, the symbol of innocence. Its leaves are a whiteness which outvies that of the richest satin and equals that of the driven snow. Happy is the daughter whose heart is also pure, for it is the pure in heart who shall see God. But the more pure the color my child, the more difficult it is to preserve it in all its purity. The slightest taint can spoil the flower of the lily and it must be touched even with the greatest precaution lest it retain the blemish; thus also one word, one thought, can rob the mind of its purity. Let the rose, he said, pointing to that flower, be an image of modesty. The blush of modesty is more beautiful than that of the rose, as it rises to the cheek of a modest girl. Marys father reached down and picked up the lilies and the roses and placed them into her hands and said, These are brothers and sisters. But innocence and modesty are twin sisters and can never be seperated. Be always innnocent and modest my child, and you will always be virtuous.
Just love it! What wisdom! |
