About the Author:
Elizabeth Prentiss, daughter of one of the great revival preachers of the early nineteenth century, Edward Payson, is known for her excellent books. Though many of her works are considered to be written for women, many men have profited from her writings. She leads the reader to strengthen their trust in the Lord while spurring patience, hope, loyalty and goodness. Her dedication and love for the Lord can be seen both not only in her writings but also in the words of her famous hymn, "More Love to Thee, O Christ."

	Every woman should read this book
I read about this book quite by accident while browsing a homeschooling forums Stepping Heavenward was a good book, and a couple of women had answered that it had changed their lives. I seldom hear that kind of praise for book. I did a search and smiled when the search came up with Lamplighter as the publisher. Having read Lamplighters books in the past, I eagerly wondered at what this book had to offer. Impulsively, or should I say that without hesitation since it was a Lamplighter Book, I ordered the book along with Little Threads a similar book by the same author for little girls that was also recommended. Soon after, it arrived at my door. In spite of our busy schedule, once I begun the book, I could not put it down. My husband asked what it was about the book that had my nose in it whenever it had a moment to rest. :- It was such a difficult answer to give in just a couple of sentences because the book is very rich in life lessons, in character training, in modeling the life of a Godly wife,mother, daughter, in-law, friend and of course encompassing all these relationships, our relationship with Jesus. I felt as if I was living the life of the woman whose life from the age of 16 to 35 + was captured in her journal entries. This book was written over 100 years ago, yet I was able to identify with her struggles, her circumstances, her feelings and her failures. My life was laid bare before my Lord in the pages of this book, and I was ashamed to admit that my relationship with Jesus was nowhere close to the relationship Katherine had by the end of the book, and I am older now than she was by the books end. There isnt a day that goes by that I dont think about Stepping Heavenward, and remind myself of what I need to be doing to mirror my Saviour in all I do and in all that I am. I will be buying several copies of this book to give as gifts for my closest friends. Thank you Lamplighter, for making this book available to all.
