Shame
Dear Mark:
You wrote on 12/12/2004 and 12/13/2004:
Good morning. This morning I learned this wonderful truth:
Proverbs 17:9, "He that covers a transgression, seeks love."
Isn't that an interesting verse?
The word covers means to "put out of sight", "conceal shame", "put sin
out of sight as God did."
G _______ , listen to my translation: "He that truly loves, will not remember another's sin against them." The MHV.
Grace, grace
(Zech 4)
Mark:
God is showing me some truths right now… D _______ has said many times he felt shame from his father. He is asking me, in no uncertain terms, to help him conceal his shame now over his present sins. Not conceal his shame as in “hide it.” But conceal his shame as in “love him” and “forget it.”
"He that truly loves, will not remember another's sin against them." The MHV.Oh dear Lord, how I need your grace and strength.
(God never wastes a truth…your note above was written in February. This was the truth you learned that you said, “It is so incredibly wonderful. It is also absolutely grossly horrible at the same time.” I teased you for saying that phrase. But now it’s real to me. It is wonderful. But so horrible that I’d have to do it! How can I forgive G_________? How can I be the one to offer mercy and grace? Oh dear Lord, you’re calling me so you’ll need to supply my needs!
Dear G_________,
hope makes us not ashamed! With God, all things are possible, and hopeful!
Mark.
